Am currently discussing two OGN's with a reputed publisher. One of them of course is&nbsp; <a href="http://www.mumbaiconfidential.com" title="Mumbai Confidential"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.mumbaiconfidential.com" title="Mumbai Confidential">Mumbai Confidential</a></span></strong></a> and the other is tentatively called "<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">A Heaven For Trishanku</span></strong>" about a man released from jail after 40 years and finding that the world outside has moved on.</p> <p><a href="http://www.greatbong.net">Greatbong</a> pointed out that the premise for AHFT was similar to <a href="http://www.jaman.com/movie/Their-Story/09A9cftMnEP4/">Tahader Katha</a> and with my heart in my mouth, I immediately saw Tahader Katha on Jaman. Whoa! Imagine my relief when I found that beyond the basic premise about a man being released from prison and encountering a changed world, there is not much more in common. :) AHFT is more about the protagonist's search for redemption, trying to find that one thing that underlines his life as not having been wasted.&nbsp; BTW, <strong><em>Tahader Katha</em></strong> is a masterpiece, do check it out when you have the time.</p> <p>Also made real headway in a long pending pitch called <strong>SYZYGY</strong>, a fantasy graphic novel about a world where the avatars of the twelve zodiac signs control reality. I either overcompensate or underplay the emotions...<br /><br />Simple Fact 1 : People in real life, hardly talk when they are with their loved ones.<br />Simple Fact 2 : Dialogue in Fiction has to be grounded in reality but dramatized nonetheless...<br /><br /><br />consider this sample, I almost winced when I wrote this<br /><br /><i><br />[This is an exceprt from my novel <a href="http://temple.etvig.com">The Temple</a>. The two characters in this scene are Uday whose name means sunrise and Sandhya whose name in sanskrit means Evening. They have had an unspoken bond between them based on mutual attraction and Sandhya decides to force the issue by speaking out to Uday.]</i><br /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">True to your name, Uday (sunrise)! You never seem to tire of watching the sun rise!"<br />Uday turned to see Sandhya standing behind him. I just made Assistant Editor of Fiction for The Harrow (<a href="http://www.theharrow.com">www.theharrow.com</a>), an award winning ezine for horror and dark fantasy. It is a land rich in fables and legends as it is endowed well with a deep historical and mythological heritage. Yet even in India, this fact remains mostly ignored.<br /><br />We have grown up listening to the legends and reading the stories. I had the good fortune of starting my education in the vernacular medium school as opposed to an institution whose sole language of instruction is English. Hence I grew up reading Oriya literature before I was introduced to say the world of Dickens, Chaucer and others.<br /><br />When I got back from India, I had a severe bout of jetlag and in between falling asleep in the day and staying awake till dawn, I dreamt. I dreamt of the boy who completed the temple and of another who laid down his life there...<br /><br />My muse was working overtime.. I scribbled on a piece of paper a short story that was well received at my Writing Group at Barnes and Nobles Framingham.
